I have a passion for art and avidly collect original works, particularly paintings. My current favourite is Dianna Ponting, a British Columbia artist who is soon to be recognized as a Canadian icon.

Wyeth should come up here, it is the very first association I got when looking at your ink-and-watercolors, Diana. But the painting of your granddaughter rather brings another artist to mind. It is not the general style, but rather the way you emulated the distortions, made by a camera (especially the flattening of the lit side of the face), that reminds me of Gerhard Richter. And the way your colors glow in the dark reminds me a bit of Rembrandt, about whom Itten said that vivid specs of color often spark in the dark like gems. But in your paintings they don't just sparkle, they glow, ripping apart the darkness, like god dividing day and night ... also has something of the philosophy of enlightenment, but with emotions taking the place of cold reason. Oh, I forgot to mention that I simply LOVE your work! Fascinating!
